RUNWAY REPORT: FW 2010-11
Fall/Winter 2010-11 Runway Report
With some fantastic Fall/Winter collections on the horizon for The Archive, we find ourselves asking two very simple questions: What do we want, and what do we need?
First, let’s focus on the need. As always, we ask ourselves what pieces can we add to our wardrobe that will keep us looking current and stylish – yet seamlessly integrate with what we already own to form new and exciting combinations? To properly answer this question, let’s examine The Archive’s interpretation of the new season:
The Jacket. We noticed an extreme emphasis on the jacket, which takes numerous new forms for winter. Every designer has their own unique interpretation: from traditional suit jackets to tailored blazers to hybrid outerwear combinations. Materials include precious wools, cashmeres, leathers, and technical fabrics to make up some unconventional responses to this otherwise classic staple. We will be offering you dozens of great new options in this department.
The hood. No longer reserved merely for outerwear and sweatshirts, the hood can be seen on all types of garments. Blazers, sweaters, t-shirts, and even button-front shirts will all be realized with hoods creating the must-have, layered look for fall.
Materials. The marriage of sweaters and t-shirts into an entirely new category. Fabrics too interesting and luxurious to be called t-shirts, with weights too light – and cuts too slim to be simply called sweaters. Our designers have done a fantastic job blending cottons, wools, cashmeres and linens which you will never want to take off! These pieces are the perfect added detail on their own, layered, or underneath a leather jacket or blazer.
Zippers. Plain and simple. They seem to be on everything from jackets, shirts, sweaters, pants, boots, and bags. Who can’t use an extra pocket once in a while?
A trip to The Archive will easily showcase these examples. Arthur, David, and Nick will be happy to guide you through the many choices we have, ensuring that you receive the update to your closet that you, and your wardrobe can’t live without.
Now, let’s move on to what we want. Emotion takes over, and as we do each season, we present our ten coolest, chicest, and downright favorite pieces from the 30+ collections we’ll have in the store. Here we go:
