A Diciannoveventitre

Founded by self-taught Italian designer Simone Cecchetto and originally named after his beloved grandmother Augusta, and her birth year 1923, A Diciannoveventitre or A1923. His label started off exclusively as experimental footwear: the principle of wabi-sabi—a Japanese philosophy of embracing natural irregularities, imperfections, blemishes, etc. Simone hand picks his leather hides, tans them, then shapes and hammers the soles, no shoe is the same. More recently, he has forayed into bags and clothing that harnesses the uniqueness of the raw and one-of-a-kind materials that he uses. All hand-made in Italy.
