Artworks by Stan Zienka

The Archive is excited to introduce Stan Zienka, a California-based artist and graphic designer whose work explores the visual translation of sound, language, and memory. Drawing from experimental music, literature, and the observations of everyday experiences, he creates abstract compositions that exist between improvisation and design.
Much of his work begins as a response to the immersive sonic landscapes of Boards of Canada, Sunn O))), Autechre, and Basic Channel, alongside writings that reflect perception, philosophy, and the nature of experience. Rather than illustrating these influences, Zienka translates their atmosphere, rhythm, density, and emotional resonance into visuals. Working across painting, collage, photography, and graphic design, he explores how rhythm becomes texture, words dissolve into shapes, and emotion emerges through abstraction.
His compositions balance spontaneous gesture with deliberate structure, inviting viewers to discover their own associations rather than fixed meanings. Each piece is a visual translation—an attempt to give form to experiences that are more often felt than explained.

We invite you to The Archive to view these unique abstract works in person. The pieces are created using acrylic, graphite, gloss medium, and charcoal on canvas.

We look forward to welcoming you!
