Collection: Blake Kuwahara

Blake Kuwahara launched his eponymous eyewear collection in January 2015, debuting in exclusive optical boutiques and specialty stores. Known for his innovative approach, Kuwahara developed a proprietary technique that seamlessly laminates two separate frames into one, creating a striking ‘frame within a frame’ effect.

With a background in architecture and furniture design, he applies unconventional construction methods—such as precisely mitering end pieces at a 45-degree angle to conceal temple joints—bringing a refined structural aesthetic to each piece. His frames pay homage to architects he admires, blending artistry with technical mastery.

The Blake Kuwahara collection is manufactured in Japan, by using laborious production techniques and a lot of handwork, an inner silhouette is encased in an unexpectedly fresh outer shape.

Kuwahara’s groundbreaking designs have earned prestigious accolades, including the SILMO d’Or in 2016 and the LOFTxTEF 2019 Awards for Best Fashion Frame and Best Fashion Sunglass.
