Daisuke Nishida, founder and designer of DEVOA, pushes the boundaries of avant-garde menswear in Japan. Unlike traditionally trained fashion designers, his background is deeply rooted in athletics and human physiology. Born in Sasebo, Nagasaki, he worked as a professional wrestler, martial artist, and sports therapist before entering fashion.
Armed with tailoring knowledge passed down from his grandfather and an expert understanding of human anatomy, Nishida built custom garments in 2004, debuted in Japan in 2007, and formally established DEVOA in 2009. The brand’s name derives from the Spanish word devota, meaning devotion—reflecting a steadfast commitment to craftsmanship.
DEVOA blends traditional Japanese artisan fabrics with high-performance technical materials. By using precise anatomical tailoring that mirrors the body's natural structure, Nishida creates garments that emphasize both function and form, moving seamlessly with the wearer.
