Japanese-born designer Rei Tanaka is the artisan behind bespoke, leather wear label ierib (backward spelling is "bi-rei"). Growing up, Tanaka was surrounded and influenced by tailors in his Grandmother's atelier. From 2010 to 2014, he had studied at the London College of Fashion and Sartoria su misura in Florence, Italy where he learned pattern-making, and bespoke hand sewn tailoring that would aid in the creation of the Ierib label. He now resides in Kyoto, where he specializes in making men’s luxury shoes, bags, and jackets that are meticulously crafted out of his signature culatta leather and other types of unique hides and fabrics.
